概述

Quantitative Building for Incoming Tigers (QBIT) is a 免费的 online course offered in July for select students to improve their mathematics placement prior to enrolling in either Pre-Calculus or Calculus I at 赌博娱乐平台网址大全.

Students will work individually and with peers in a supportive, confidence-building environment to:

  • Refresh prior math skills
  • Learn new ones
  • Earn one credit hour towards graduation
  • Earn eligibility to enroll in MATH-1301 (Pre-Calculus) or MATH-1311 (Calculus I)

Program Details

Participant Eligibility

As appropriate, all incoming 赌博娱乐平台网址大全 students are expected to complete their mathematics placement assessment (ALEKS) by June 21, 2024. Those who take the ALEKS assessment and earn a 65% or lower are eligible to participate. Students will receive an email invitation shortly after taking the assessment. 

  • Note that students do not have to enroll in QBIT in order to improve their placement. All 赌博娱乐平台网址大全 students are allowed to retake the ALEKS placement assessment—this course just provides a structured environment for preparing to do so.

Timeline and Time Commitment

Important Dates
  1. Registration: June 28, 2024
    Students interested in participating should email Luke Tunstall, Ph.D. at 路加福音.tunstall@678910w.com no later than June 28, 2024 to enroll in the course.
     
  2. Course Dates: July 8 –July 26, 2024
    For students whose ALEKS score is 50% or lower, the preparation course for placing into Pre-Calculus will be offered daily Monday–Friday, 9–10:00 a.m. 通过放大.
     
    For students whose ALEKS score is between 51% and 65%, the preparation course for placing into Calculus I will be offered daily Monday–Friday, 10:30–11:30 a.m. 通过放大.
     
Time Commitment

Note that outside of actual class meeting times, participants should expect to work an average of two to three hours a day, for a total of around 30-45 hours over the course of the month. More information about this expectation will be discussed on the first day of class.

有 没有成本 for students to participate in this program. The 1 credit hour and the materials will be provided to students 免费的 of charge. Students will just need access to a computer and a willingness to grow.

What to Expect

As this is a college course, students should expect to engage fully throughout the duration of the program. After getting to know one another and discussing the course, we will dive right into work!
 
With sustained effort throughout the program, students will earn their first 赌博娱乐平台网址大全 credit hour and be well positioned to improve their placement score, before stepping foot on campus for the fall!
